Free to play · No download

Sudoku: Classic Minimalism presents the number puzzle as a plain grid with an on-screen digit pad. Select an empty cell, choose a number, and use the existing clues to work out what belongs there. The opening puzzle is almost complete, so it offers a gentle introduction to the rules before you move further through the levels.

About Sudoku: Classic Minimalism

Read the grid, not the clock

The screen puts the puzzle ahead of decorative effects. A nine-by-nine grid, a row of digit buttons, and a reset control are the main things to learn. Existing clues stay in place while you fill the empty squares. The rule is to use the digits one through nine without repeating a digit in a row, a column, or a three-by-three box.

Start with a line that has only one empty square. Compare its existing digits with the full set, then check that the missing digit also fits the column and box. The first level contains several nearly completed lines, making it possible to practise this method without guessing your way through a complicated board.

Check each choice in three directions

A number that fits its row can still conflict with its column. Make the three checks a habit before you place a digit. If you are unsure, leave that square alone and find a clearer clue somewhere else; solving an easier square can make the earlier one understandable.

This is a calmer companion to 2048 and Minesweeper. Instead of combining tiles or avoiding hidden bombs, you gradually rule out numbers until the board is complete. Use the on-screen pad to enter a value, and review the highlighted cells before moving on. Supplier advertising may appear around gameplay.
